Good lesson, great song. I tried to learn this in 74, but my chord skill knowledge was limited. I found The best way to learn theory then, was to dicuss it with other musicians. Like this format bringing us together, to learn from each other. I'm still learning from other musicians. Thank you Jon. A Jimmie Hendrix chord is actually a senenth chord with a sharp nine. B7(#9)

Nobody teaches the intro lick right. It's counterpoint. You have to play the bass notes with the treble notes or it's not the same. Everyone plays the bottom notes or the top but never both. Jerry Reed invented the lick Glenn Campbell liked it so much he wrote a song around it... and nobody teaches the lick. This was a great lesson. Just not the correct lick.

hear the train a-comin', it's rolling 'round the bend And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when I'm stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin' on But that train keeps a-rollin' on down to San Antone [Verse 2] When I was just a baby, my mama told me, "Son Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns" But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die When I hear that whistle blowin', I hang my head and cry I bet there's rich folks eatin' in a fancy dining car They're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars Well, I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free But those people keep a-movin', and that's what tortures me [Verse 4] Well, if they freed me from this prison, if that railroad train was mine I bet I'd move it on a little farther down the line Far from Folsom prison, that's where I want to stay And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away

Thank you so much for making this video. This is a beautiful piece of music and you explained it so well. I'm in my late sixties and I didn't play my guitars for many, many years. Now, I want to play this song for my wife of 45 years on her birthday. My fingers are close to useless, thanks to arthritis, but I don't give up easily. The little things you included, the way you play, has added much more color to it. Thank you, Jon. I'm now going to fetch my guitar, dust it and tune it. Let's see what will happen.
